The charming and lovely Naomi over at IttyBiz has put together the extremely awesome and in-depth series of articles called Marketing School. This is stuff you need to know. If you don’t know who your target demographic is, then they probably don’t know you are, either.
One of my big favorites from this series is Turning Weakness into Strength. New photographers have to wrangle good shots out of weaknesses and shortcomings all the time. You gotta turn the tables every chance you can get. For example, I don’t own a studio. In fact, I live in a one bedroom apartment with my wife, and two dogs. I don’t waste time worrying about my lack of a studio, letting it drag me down, and keeping me from pursuing and getting business.
Because I’m a location specialist. I specialize in shooting on location! That’s why speedlights and my studio-in-a-tote are both so great. My weakness isn’t just my strength, it’s my specialty!
This was a quickie post. I want you to think about which of your weaknesses you can turn into strengths!

I’m totally stealing “If you don’t know who your target demographic is, then they probably don’t know who you are, either.” That is classic.
Thanks!!
